Dubai World Cup 2025 Sets Guinness World Record with 6,000 Drones, Lasers, and Aircraft
The 29th edition of the Dubai World Cup, held on April 5, 2025, at Meydan Racecourse, concluded with a groundbreaking closing ceremony that captivated over 65,000 spectators and a global audience. The event set a new Guinness World Record for the largest flying LED screen, featuring 5,983 synchronised drones that illuminated the night sky with dynamic 3D sculptures, including portraits of UAE leaders, galloping horses, event logos, and a 3D trophy.
Enhancing the visual spectacle, the ceremony incorporated powerful laser projections and aerial performances. Small aircraft equipped with pyrotechnics performed coordinated maneuvers, complementing the drone display and delivering a breathtaking experience.
The main race of the evening saw "Hit Show," representing Wathnan Racing of Qatar and ridden by jockey Florent Geroux, claim victory in the $12 million Emirates Airline Dubai World Cup. The five-year-old horse completed the 2,000-meter race in 2:03.50 minutes, securing a 0.64-length win over American contender Mixto, ridden by Frankie Dettori.
The 2025 Dubai World Cup featured 102 horses from 13 countries competing across nine races, with a combined prize pool of $30.5 million.
